Welcome
Dear candidate,
Thank you so much for the interest you have shown in our school and the role of Headteacher.
We believe the position represents an exciting opportunity and that the successful candidate will be joining a caring, supportive and welcoming school environment.
Our school values of “Respect, Friendship, Perseverance, Hope and Trust” contribute to our Christian ethos, which reflects the Church foundation of our school and concentrates our vision. We encourage our pupils to practise these values in everything they do.
We have over 140 children on roll at present, with some split classes between year groups. The school has only recently undergone an Ofsted inspection. The school was confirmed as securely good, and considered to be continuing in a positive direction. The inspector made many favourable comments, not only about the academic performance of the school, but also the ethos and atmosphere it encourages. Some specific areas for further improvement were highlighted and comment made that the school leadership and Governing body had already identified these - and we are taking steps to address them.
The Governing body is seeking to appoint an inspirational Headteacher who will build on the current good practice within the school but also bring a fresh perspective to continue to drive the school forward - creating a vibrant, outward looking school where all children are prepared to be the best they can be. We are looking for a Headteacher with a passion for driving outcomes for our children through the delivery of high-quality teaching standards and continued staff development. We pride ourselves on a relentless desire to improve.
The school is part of a rural community not far from the City of York, and we hope that the new Headteacher would maintain, and extend, the links beyond the school into the local community, neighbouring schools, as well as promoting the school’s Christian vision and core values in all areas of school life, maintaining and further developing the links with our village church and the Diocese of York.
I would like to thank you again for your interest in the post and I look forward to receiving your application.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Bill Pigg
Chair of Governors
